Looking for a good book on green woodworking. Dealing with splitting/riving a log, tool use, techniques etc?

Rick,

A very good book about green woodworking is J. Alexander's Making a Chair from a tree/ Introduction to Green Woodworking (Title might be slightly different). I think it's only available on CD now.

Any of Roy Underhill's Woodwright's books, starting with his first, the Woodwright's Guide.

John Alexander's book is the source, and even better, there's a video available at Green Woodworking (http://www.greenwoodworking.com/MACFATVideo). Both are certifiably great.

Hi Rick,

My recommendation is to find a copy of Green Woodwork:
Working with wood the natural way, by Mike Abbott. I agree with the other suggestions too, but Mike Abbott tells us about bodgers in England. They made chairs from scratch in the forest. Pretty cool.
Take care,
Jim
