Very interesting design. I imagine it looks a lot better with the thicker layers being dark on the bottom. It would be interesting to see a reversed one. Both side by side to see how much better your way looks.

John, I like this effect!! And, I think you used a good form for it. Baxter's thought about reversing the "flow" I think would work on a different form that could support the visual "weight" of the darker fade to the rim - might be interesting!

Baxter and John, Maybe I'll make a matched pair and see how it works. I did study it long and hard before committing to this shape, and I felt the effect would be most effective this way. If I rounded it more, or tucked the bottom in I felt that the width of the bands would change, either visually or due to the fact that the curve would increase the horizontal distance and cause the band to be slightly wider. (does that make sense? When you lessen the steepness of the vertical, the horizontal gets wider.)

Very nice effect. I guess I've never seen the laminating done beyond several layers, and this is very interesting to me. I may have to borrow the concept!
