Has anyone on here made a wood burner from a battery charger? If so, I would like to see a picture!

Here is the pen David, use heavy wire in it and you will have less heating up of the handle.

Here's one I made after seeing Molly Winton's at the AAW in Albuquerque. It has banana plugs and you can select either jack for output. That way two pens can be plugged in, but only one is hot at a time. Handles are cherry.

Would a 35A 12v power supply work in place of the battery charger? Reason I ask is that I happen to have one and would not need to purchase the charger. Seems to me that the charger is being used to produce the low voltage, high amerage power, correct?

It should work, assuming it's not an electronic power supply, just use a dimmer switch to reduce the incoming voltage and the output amps to something usable. The dimmer goes on the 120 Volt supply side. Thats why you can't use an electronic charger, it has to be the old manual type.

Are there directions somewhere as to how to build it?
