Just wanted to share my first turning with you. It's a little maple burl that I rough-turned on my new Jet mini lathe. The bowl measures 3 3/4" in diameter by 2 1/2" high. I coated it with Pentacryl and wrapped it in paper to dry. Comments and criticisms most welcome.

John,
Congratulations on the first of many - it's very addictive. Looking forward to seeing the finished bowl - maybe even in person. -Steve

John -

Nice start! Now, you just have to be patient for a while until you can come back to that particular one. In the mean time . . . .

Well done,
Ted

Nice work !

Man, you guys are killing me. It's been YEARS since I've worked on a lathe but I've always loved turning wood. Looking at that bowl and that chess set that another member turned makes me want to get a mini lathe and start turning again. I could spend hours at the lathe just working away.

Oh no, ANOTHER obsession ! :)

I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words and encouragement. I am looking forward to starting on bowl number two.

Steve Inniss, I see from your post we are in the same area, good to hear from another fellow Muskokan.

John

John, is that a piece rescued from the firewood pile? -Steve

Steve.

It was from a Maple tree that I cut a while ago. I really hate to think of how many nice turning pieces have been burned.

I will be sure looking things over from now on.
Regards
John
