I have a client that I'm doing a recognition board for that wants something like a standoff.

The best I can describe it, is a brass like thumb screw that screws into a "reciever" that is
inset into the board, as to not strip the wood out after a couple of turnings.

I am cutting a piece of acrylic to size, and the will have a photo in back out it. (this will be
changed from time to time) They don't want it to standoff but to be flush with the board.

The standoff companies I've emailed don't have anything like that.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Marty

The catalogues I have here (UK) call the sort of thing you are after "sign fixings" (not a hugely helpful description).
There are similar things for fixing picture frames to walls (with a "secret" lock to stop unauthorised people taking them off). Not easy to google for, but it can be done!
Any sign-trade shows in your area?

I think I know what you're talking about Martin. JDS has several types of slide in styles. Not sure if that would work though.

They have the type that stand off the board, I may have to go with something like that though, but with a plastic inset that expands and hold firm to the back board.

That may be the way to go.

Thanks Barry & Michael for your input

Maty

Take a look at threaded inserts then find brass cap screws or similar to fit.

Marty,

What Mike said for the threaded inserts, and these for the screws, just make sure you get matching threads =)
