This hit my front porch this morning with a resounding "thump". It's a 6" thick 12" diameter chunk of walnut. Looks to have some nice color and figure in it. I don't turn too many bowls but I just know there's a bowl in there somewheres. A pretty good sized one too. This was sent by Tony DeMasi who must have used a caliper to measure it to exactly fit into a large flat rate box! Thanx Tony!

Definitely looks like the box is maxed out, with some really good looking walnut. I can hear your brain working from here.

Dang David the last time I had a thump in the night a birdhouse ornament fell and I lost 2" of finial off the bottom. I like you thump a lot better. And by the way congrats on the honor of the WoW cover.

Very nice - now that's a huge chuck of walnut! The walnut does look very, very nice.

BTW - congratulations on the WoW cover!

I am going to try to sneak in a little credit here, because I gave Tony your address.
Ok, ok, so there's no credit involved. Oh well.;)

It will be beautiful, whatever it turns out to be! Very nice, Tony!

Now that is a chunk of walnut. I am sure it will be a pretty piece no matter what you turn.

"I am going to try to sneak in a little credit here..."

Take all the credit you want. And if you need more, please feel free to give my address to anyone else who might have "extra" wood laying around!

Very nice "thump", even if you just finished the side showing, you would have a nice Kiwi.

Bet there's a good size bowl and a platter in that chunk David, but whatever you decide to make from it, make sure you show it here ;-))

Glad it arrived without breaking the box open. Yea, I maxed out the box for certain. I cut it a bit oversized in height then put it on the lathe to get it to fit nicely. It weighed in at a bit over 20 lbs, so the flat rate box was a bargain too.

Enjoy David.
