This Cherry Burl came from my wife's family farm in Tennessee. We visited there last summer and I brought back a trailer load of wood. It is 8 inches in diameter and about 5.5 inches high. This was my first natural edge bowl. It was challenging. Ants had chewed through much of the burl. Thanks for looking.

The finish is several coats of Danish Oil and Beall buffed. Maybe all the ants in the wood had something to do with coloring. I also sprayed the burl with insecticide and put it into a plastic bag for about a week.

Nice job on a nice piece of wood. Can only faintly see the cherry grain in the piece. Doesn't appear to have much if any of the typical cherry coloring. What did you do/use for finishing?

Great job on saving the bark on the rim.

John, excellent piece of wood, though it doesn't look much like cherry. Very organic and rustic, and your form displays that well.

That is beautiful! I saw a burl in my backyard that will end up like that IF it is lucky.

Wonderful work John, the form, the natural rim all looks excellent!

Hey John, if it isn't challenging is it really worth doing - LOL?

Nice job. The coloring is quite unusual for cherry burl, but it's lovely all the same. He bark rim is very nice.

I like the rounded shape on this one. Because of the what appears to be a small base, thin walls and uneven edge, it doesn't look too chunky. Good work!

That's an awesome chunk of wood there John, and a great job on it too! The color seems dark for cherry, but Im a desert rat and prolly dont know! Very rustic and great NE all around.
