Wired the circuit for the sander, used 8/2, as it uses a 3 prong plug, problem is I can't find any 8/3 cord. Only 10/3. Would that be heavy enough for a 6' long cord?

I am not sure but could you just get a stove or dryer pigtail, I think they are 6 which would be enough.
