Hello All,

This is my first post on the forum, been hanging around for a while though.

I took a flyer and bought two planes a while ago. One is a Baley's No. 7 and the other is a Chaplin's Improved No. 210 (top plane in the first picture).

I have been trying to find out more information about it in terms of what I should do with it. In my searches it seems that it could be a collector type of plane?

Does anyone here have any information in terms of history or value that they could share with me?

Tim

The Chaplin Improved version came in around 1900, and the have more collectible value than a comparable Stanley plane. Their distinctive hard rubber handles are prone to shrinkage and breakage, so replacements are hard to find.
If you Google Chaplin Improved you will find some information, including a good type study by Peter McBride: http://www.petermcbride.com/chaplin/
