Anyone have a source for the tool rest banjo for the Delta 46-460?

There's one on ebay but you ain't gonna like the price!

David, that one won't fit a 46-460 anyway - it is for the older Delta lathes with a 1" post. The 46-460 takes a 5/8" post. Even if the banjo fit, he wouldn't be able to use his rests.

Rick, I would contact Sean Ackerman with ToolNut and see if he can get you one.

Sorry about the "hot link". My bad. FWIW, I presumed he was referring to the "older" 46-460 (http://owwm.com/photoindex/detail.aspx?id=10638) which I believe will accept a 1" tool rest post. I may be wrong and I cannot tell you why I made that assumption!

Why is it everyone references Tool Nut but when I go to the Tool Nut webpage I can't find anything Lathe related and certainly not the Delta lathe on their site?

Rick, they sell a bunch of lathes, including the Delta 46-460. That is where I bought mine, along with several other creekers. Another thought would be to go to the dealer where you bought yours. Are you wanting another one to do the extended toolrest setup?

And, David, safe assumption!! I wasn't even aware of the old numbering.

"...safe assumption..."

I got it! I figured he was talking about the older lathe because a banjo for a new one would not be too hard to find!

Haven't bought the lathe yet...just planning. Can someone post a link to the Delta 46-460 on the Tool Nut website because I can't seem to find it.

Rick, ToolNut doesn't have a detailed online catalogue. You would do better just calling and asking for Sean - or PM me with your email address, and I will send you his email.

You should be sure before ordering, I believe that James has supplied the bracket, but you would need the rod that goes thru it, the snap rings, the rubber handle sleeve, the ring bolt and nut as well as the large stepped washer.

I just bought mine in November, and luckily found it on sale. I looked and looked and there were no sales anywhere for months. I guess Im thinking that if you're looking for a lathe to modify, this might not be the machine. John K. (I think) looked on craigslist in the fall and there were maybe 3 or 4 used for sale in the US.
Good luck on whatever you're attempting to do!
