I was helping a young man build a Tiger Maple Mirror, it is all glued-up
and dry---unfortunately 50% of the joints have small gaps...
the finish will be some of Jeff Jewitts liquid dye and then some
Bartley Gel Poly---any suggestions for:
1. A material which will fill the joint gap and will take the finish and disappear?
2. Any other ideas beside redoing the project-I made this suggestion
but the youngster said "no".

Thanks,
Phil

"Wood". Slivers of wood, to be specific. No filler will ever take dye or stains the same as the wood, itself. Make shavings from the same stock the project was made of for this application. If you can get them sized right and in sung, you don't need any glue...the clear finish you use will lock them in. Doing this requires patience and sharp hand tools, but the result should largely be "invisible" to anyone who is not a woodworker.
