Anyone know what coring systems, if any, will fit on Grizzly's new 18 x 47 lathe, model G0698?

Dirk,

I would think that what ever coring system would work on a Jet 16/42 would work well on a Grizzly G0698 18/47. The lathes have some connection in manufacturing and have some identical parts.

I would think that the only issue would be a post that would have enough rise to allow for the proper height on the 18/47 which would amount to 1 inch more in height adjustment.

The McNaughton will work on anything. The Oneway system would require bases for an 18" lathe, which might be hard to find. Maybe you could make another size base work. The WoodCut should work too, I believe, if it meets you needs otherwise.

How can I be sure, though?
I'd hate to buy a coring system, only to find out it's not gonna cut it.

The McNaughton works on a Jet 16 and the PM 20, so it should work on yours as well. All it does in mount in the banjo. The micro or mini sets may be a little small, for a bigger lathe. They are made of thinner stock, so they may bend eaiser.

I prefer the McNaughton, but there is more of a learning curve with it than there is with a Oneway. Oneway does have a plate and mounting system for a 16 inch lathe, and a 20 inch lathe. I would imagine that you would be able to make it work one way or the other. A call to them would help figure that one out. McNaughton costs less, and you could probably get just the standard set of blades to start, then when you get comfortable, get the large set, and small set, unless you are a real tool junkie, and then get them all.
