I posted a bowl a couple of weeks ago of cherry crotch. This is the other half. It is 14" across and about 3 1/2" in depth. It is a 1/4" thick in the walls and 5/16" in the bottom. Finish is 2 coats of Forby's oil followed by 3 coats of water white lacquer. Thanks for lookin'

You've managed to really capture the feathering in the bottom of that bowl, and the simple shape really lets it shine... Nicely done.

Now that's the way to show off feather. That bowl should hang on a wall so the inside bottom is on display. Great finish.

Yes Bob, you really did this very nice crotch well both in form and perfect finish. The way you showcased the feathered grain on the inside is outstanding.

Thanks to all. I had my choice of 3 crotch logs. This one had two branches of the same size and looked well balanced. I think I ended up with 4 bowls (not all as good as this but still pretty good). I gave the sawyer $10 for the log. I think I could have had all three for $25:rolleyes:

Beautiful wood, Bob, and great finish. This is a hard shape to pull off for a lot of turners; you nailed it!

What a great way to show off a beautiful cherry feather! I hate to do this but I would love to see you go back and sand out that tool mark. It really detracts from an otherwise beautiful bowl.
