Seems a small limb wanted to stay in a slight depression, so I left it. The HF is 7 x 10.25. I used brushed lacquer as a sealer, then WOP. Don't think it turned out as good as the Tung Oil I generally use on Juniper. May be that the Juniper is too soft or that I didn't build enough coats of WOP.

I love the color in this one... The purple streaking really looks nice. I like the finish, but if you want more gloss, you can always add more poly and/or buff it.

That is a beautiful piece of wood and a great form. I, also, like your re-enforced steady. Need to do that to mine as it flexes if I get a little too heavy with the chisels

Dan, really some neat wood, and it shows very well with this form. On the WOP, it takes many coats of WOP to build a deep finish. Also, I would suggest a coat of dewaxed shellac between the lacquer and the WOP. I have done what you have, but it isn't the best. WOP doesn't adhere well to much, and the lacquer probably isn't the best undercoat.

Very nice. That wood is something special and I really like your form. Also like your shop-made steady rest.

I very much like the colors in this piece and the limb 'defect' certainly adds a bit of interest. I think the top could me a bit narrower or if you wanted to maintain the wide mouth, perhaps more symmetry of the ogee curves would balance the shape some. I would like to try some of this juniper someday.
