Thermark and polished stainless getting scuffed

I've used Thermark on several iPod Touch backs and a few stainless steel flasks. No matter how careful I am removing the paste I always end up with light scuffing afterwards. Even now I've switched to the Thermark Tape - but still have to wipe the surface with something to remove the adhesive after weeding, so still getting scuffs. Is this just the nature of polished stainless, or does someone have a way that I can clean it up and still have it look pristine afterwards?

What are you using to clean it off? For almost anything I laser with Cermark I simply rinse it off with water, what little remains can be cleaned with a microfiber cloth. I bought a big bag of them at Costco and use them for cleaning acrylic as well. Wash them often, they collect all kinds of stuff that will scratch acrylic and/or stainless.
