Hi folks,

I am thinking about making an edge lit sign for an exhibition we are attending next month. Anyone know of a base supplier in the UK? I have never done a sign or before, but figured it couldnt be that hard if I had the base. All I need it some arcylic and reverse laser our logo right?

Needs to be about 70-100cm long....27"-40"

Any help would be great.....

Hi Jiten,

yep, you would laser it from the reverse - make sure you use casted acrylic when you raster it. I would use a vector border around the letters, that gives it a glow. With the bases I can't help you, because I only have suppliers in Germany or I make my own bases - either using acrylic or an aluminum profile and integrate LED strips which I just can plug into a power supply. Maybe Frank knows a source in UK for you.

Just reviving this old thread....does anyone have a supplier of these bases in the UK? I tried applelecsign, but they quoted me £90 for a base 980mm long. I could be wrong, but that sounds quite expensive for a piece of aluminium with LED reel in it?

Ideally I would like the same ones Jim Good supplies (supplied). Or even just the profiling like the image with end caps so that I can cut and made the base myself?

I found a Chinese supplier on Alibaba and they were (roughly) $1.50/inch for bases.
Prices varied by color but included power supplies. I just couldn't make the MOQ

What is their minimal order?

Ah.. now I understant the PM. Sorry, Mike .. I forgot about
this thread till now.
They wanted 1000 units per size, per color.

EDIT .. sorry, that might have been 500 ea. I certainly didn't
need that many and couldn't afford it, but at the time I was
thinking I could supply the people here who were looking, and
probably make up 500 units. BUT I've done group buys before,
and there's no way I'd take that on. Someone would want one
2 inches longer, or without the power supply, or a color that
wasn't ordered. And even though you know from the start that
you're not going to sell them anything, you still have to go through
all the same amount of work as if you had. (or maybe more!)
