This blank was given to me for my Birthday in November. I turned it in December just before Christmas. I finally photographed it in January.

Herringbone blank made by Andy Sowers (on SMC if you want one) mounted on a TiGold Sedona fountain pen, finished with CA and left at a "soft gloss" (MM6000).

Greg I saw this on the IAP. I guess if it were me I would have to have a lot of courage to turn that pen. It is a VERY nice birthday present. It looks incredible! Good job. Russell

It's a beautiful pen and a very well made blank. I was lucky enough to get paired with Andy and Darci for the SMC pen exchange, and I can attest to the quality of their pens/blanks.

Yes, it was very scary. Especially since their Turning instructions eliminated all my favorite tools: "Don't use a roughing gouge to turn. Don't use an end-mill." etc. It was the first successful time turning with a skew and the first time to make/use a end-sander. But I didn't want to risk that blank!!

Thank you all for the nice comments. David, it is lucky indeed to be paired up with those two. They do amazing work. Especially when you think that they only got their lathe about a year ago.
