SWMBO got me a Oneway Easy Core for Christmas. This past weekend some friends came over and we gave it a try turning one chunk of Redwood Burl into two big bowl blanks (a 10" and a 9") which are currently wrapped and drying on a shelf and one completed little bowl.

This is the little bowl. 4-1/2" diameter, 1-1/4" high, 1/8" thick at the rim (which is the thickest part of the bowl). 10 coats of Deft spray gloss lacquer, 1 coat of Deft spray satin lacquer (I gave up trying to get the Redwood smooth).

Greg - congrats on your new coring system! Looks like it is going to pay for itself in short order!

Beautiful little bowl! Love the color and grain! Looking forward to seeing bigger bowls once they are finished! Have fun!

Greg, some really nice wood!! This form accentuates the wood quite well.

Congrats on the coring system - you will be knee deep in bowl blanks very soon!

That is beautiful wood. I have the oneway coring system, and the two middle-sized knives. Sure is nice to not waste all that wood -

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. And it is great to have the coring system. Now I can buy all that beautiful wood I've seen but couldn't justify throwing so much of it away as shavings! My poor wallet is beginning to smoke in anticipation!
