Does anyone have instructions for updating the firmware on a mercury II?
I have downloaded the latest firmware and the firmware update tool but i cant find any instructions on how to do the actual update.

go to the jorlink site www.jorlink.com (http://www.jorlink.com) - I think there are instructions embedded in their firmware links

Rodne, for some reason I get "page cannot be found errors" recently on the Jorlink site in regards to most manuals and downloads. Is is just me?

I haven't used the update tool recently but I thought it kind of walked you through it - as opposed to having to use DOS commands to copy the file to the port.

The links of the Jorlink page referenced above have been broken for some time. I did download several of the files back when the links were working. And while some of the information in the end user/maintenance manual is the same between the two models, the drivers/firmware/and how to access certain features hidden bootup features (via power switch/holding down key combinations) are specific to the Mercury (as opposed to the Mercury II - the differences of which have been discussed in a pervious thread).

Because of a theft of my old laptop in November, I purchase a new one and of course the new one came with Windows 7/64-bit. This led me to contact Ruth Rocha at GCC America to aquire the latest drivers and the latest firmware:

As of November 30th, 2010, The latest Mercury II:

Firmware: 1.15-01
Firmware Upgrader tool: Upload2.exe
32-Bit Drivers: 3.68-01
64-Bit Driver: 3.01-01

Because my Merc II is normally connected to my Desktop running XP Pro 32-bit via the parallel port, I just fired up the upload2.exe firmware update tool, selected the firmware file, and sent it to the Merc II. It did it's thing, rebooted and was at 1.15-1.

FYI, current firmware uploader tool is not 64-bit and requires an LPT parallel port connecton - i.e. does not support USB.

I have sent Ruth Rocha's contact information via PM to Niklas because I am not sure how appropriate it is to post it here.
