I am looking to up grade from my jet 1236. A nice lathe but not lage enough.
I am looking at the Rikon 2036 model 70-500. I have a Rikon Mini that is a very nice mini lathe. I have been comparing several brand of lathes and would like feed back on this one.:)

Brian - I am sure a lathe upgrade is a very personal thing based on what it is you want to turn - but - for the money you are looking at spending for the lathe you listed - I would highly recommend checking out the Powermatic 3520B. Main reason I suggest that is the sliding headstock. Makes a huge difference when turning bowls!

I second the 3520B, my first lathe was a Jet 1442, then a Jet 1642 and now a Oneway. That Powermatic would have been my last to.

I went from a Jet 1236 to a Nova DVR XP... and I'm very happy with it. Of course if a Oneway or Robust fell out of the sky into my shop, I'd consider upgrading <vbg>
