I posted some roughed out HF's that I turned from some beautiful redwood and am left trying to decide what the best finish for redwood might be. I have zero experience with this wood on the lathe so any and all help would be of great use.
Thanks,
Jack

This is one time I would avoid any oil. Oil will darken redwood to a much greater degree than other woods. It might even obscure the figure and "flatten" the "chatoyant" quality of the wood. I would go with a very "light" finish like a water white shellac or lacquer followed by waxing and polishing.
