I want some generic cases that I can put each of my nailers in for easy/selective transport to a worksite. They (five) came in one huge case, and I don't want to be "That Guy" hauling that monster around when I may only need one. Kinda looking at the molded aluminum cases, or very sturdy plastic. I need them as durable and water-resistant as possible, or else I would have made some wooden cases.

And then, how do I fix the interiors up to hold the nailers securely? First thought is wrap the tools in plastic bags and use aerosol spray insulation but I want something less Beverly Hillbilly-ish than that.

Anyone have any recommendations please? Thanks.

Rick,

Here are some not-so-cheap options:

Check out Midway USA.
They carry a bunch of gun cases that come with foam inserts.

How about something like this? It's not what you described, but it would carry a nailer.

http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-Heavy-Duty-DCBAG3-Ballictic-2-Inch/dp/B0007XXHFU/ref=sr_1_12?s=power-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1293897516&sr=1-12

Or, something similar.

another option

Look at the Pelican cases. http://www.pelican-case.com/ High impact composite plastic material. Water tight and some models even water proof!! The two I own have a vent valve to break the seal to open the case if it seems stuck. Foam interior that is customizable. I got mine from Fry's Electronics, but are available on line. Even available in different colors if you need several the same size and want to tell which tool by color. ;) I have a smaller one for my Nikon digital camera, and a larger one that will hold the JVC video and Nikon cameras together. 175869 I've had them for about 8 years or more. Jim.
