I've got a no-name Spofford-type chuck brace. The wrist handle is held in place by pinches on the shaft with washers riding between the pinches and the handle. The chuck is driven onto the knurled end of the shaft -- not cast as part of it -- with the end of the brace's shaft perpendicular to the bit. The tapered shank of the one bit I have (yes, I'm starting slowly here) is too long for the cavity of the chuck. I realize I could easily find a regular ratcheting brace without the non-standardization I have here, but what do I have here? The brace has no identifying marks on it. And what are the tapered shank bits called? Thanks.
