Screw size for Blum Tandem slides?

Is it necessary to use the 5mm euro screws for these slides or is that just to mesh with the 32mm system? If not, what size screw do your recommend for typical FF base cabinets?

A cabinet shop I know use #8 wood screws when the slide is to be hold outside the 5mm holes.

I have used #6 SD screws, although some #6 heads are too small. #8 screws work just as well.
