Being a hopeless scavenger, I always check out the steel recycle bin of the local ironworks (the welding shop said it is ok to pick stuff from there).

Major score today- I snagged a couple of HUGE steel doors that they were discarding. These suckers are welded up from 4" box tubing and 3/16" steel plate. Overall dimensions are about 4' x 6'. They have a big diagonal angle iron stabilizing the top, and they appear to be very flat. And boy are they MASSIVE. Judging from the effort it took to get two into the back of my truck, I'd say on the order of 200lb.

I snagged some 4" steel tubing that I'll weld on for legs. I figure I'll top it with masonite or MDF and some oak edging and make it the same height as the TS and use it for a big outfeed and assembly table.

I figure I'll make up the 2nd one as a welding bench for the metalworking/tractor restoration zone of the barn shop!

Wahoo!

Awsome find!!!:) Isn't it great to find free stuff that you can use. Especially something as large as those 2 pieces. You will probably have the strongest outfeed table in your neck of the woods.

Those doors do not exsist. They are a figment of your imagination... at least until you post pics. ;)

Congrats on the score... when it becomes officials. ;)
