So, I just thought I would offer this up since it is my new favorite little trick. I have done a bunch of reading about planer sleds because I have been using a lot of stock to make cutting boards that are to big to go on my jointer first. What I do is take the board and rough in both sides on the planer. I take it over to my saw top and I lay it down and find the rocking point on one of the sides that has the least then I take the corner thats up in the air and I put duck tape on it until it doesn't rock anymore. Then I take it and run it through the planer or the drum sander until the top side is perfectly flat. Now most of the stuff I use ends up being less then 48 inches, so longer then that it might not work so good but anything less and you get perfect results in a few minutes and all it costs you is is a few pieces of tape.
