Well, this year it was easy for Santa. Turns out he got me:
1. Rockler Bench Cookies
2. Rockler auxilliary fence clamps x2
3. Rockler magnetic spotlight with lighted magnifying lens.

Man, those Rockler impulse-buy ads really work! ;)

Anyone else get some stocking-stuffers for the woodshop this Christmas?

Also got a metric Craftsman Dogbone wrench and a pair of carhart jeans (hey, they are for shop use :) ).

No tool presents for me. I got a little pile of cash, some shirts, some Givenchy stuff, a subscription to FWW, and an invitation to take a romantic trip to a woodworking store. She has no clue about what any of those tools are for, although lately she guessed correctly that my Makita corded drill could be used to drill holes.

She goes by the tools' looks and she can appreciate various degrees of cuteness of some of the tools' designs. We never go to hardware stores together, unless there is also a gardening department, so it came to me as a shock when she liked a LeeValley store we visited a couple weeks ago. She marveled over their hand planes, the books, and she like the background music (they were playing Mozart that evening). We're going back to the store this coming Wednesday, as her wish is my command :D

My Mom is learning / getting a little older and doesn't have the kick she used to. She feels bad when she just writes a check but it is by far the best gift you can get. I am sure it will find it's way to Lee Valley :)...

Had a great Christmas !!!

Got the Woodpecler, Saddle Square 90 and 45, that is when they he gets them made.
A new sanding mat from Eagle America, the old one was just about shot.
A new screw drive set, now I can clean out all those old ones that don't match.

Now its not really a woodworking tool but it goes with the shop, now NO laughing, a foot warmer. My shop floor is not heated and gets really cold and after working out there in the evening I come in and my feet are freezing.

I was very spoiled due to some special blessings:

Shop Fox Mini Lathe (with a Proxxon chisel Set, face shield, and a scoop to connect to the dust collector, and calipers)
The Narex Mortise Chisel Set from Lee Valley
A small Japanese Pull Saw
A marking knife and guage
A used #4 Stanley that cuts like butter
A used Stanley block plane - iron needs a bit more work.

Some Jeans, and a nice shop jacket from my wife.

Very blessed this year!

I got a lovely 1.5 horse steel city dust collector from my lovely bride. Oh, and the best gift: watching my 4 year old daughter's face when she opened her presents.

Blessed indeed.

Well, I used to get shirts, ties, and all kinds of things that I just didn't need. Most of the gifts were in the 15-20 dollar range. Now, I simply ask for clamps. I'm getting a nice collection of smaller clamps, but I need some richer friends to get some of the better clamps.

When you get to be my age, you ARE Santa! Yeah yeah, I look like him Too!

So, three days before Christmas I made another trip to Omaha to pick up another eBay prize! It's a 1992 Powermatic Model 27 shaper. 3/4" interchangeable spindle. 5hp, 3ph Baldor motor. It even had a Freud 2x2 panel raiser still mounted. For $367, how can a guy go wrong? I'll drive my GMC sleigh 12 hours anyday for a Christmas present like that!

Merry Christmas to all! ...and, remember the Real Reason For The Season!

You guys are lucky. My wife got me a big list of things she wants me to make for her. I mean for the house.

I shouldn't bitch (and I'm not). I did build the shop in 2010.

While not a woodworking tool, a goodie for the shop that SWMBO and the kids gpt me completely blew me away - a Craftsman upper and lower tool chest set - ball bearing drawers. 5 drawers in each, and ones in the base unit are huge.

I received the gift I have needed for some time: A New Back. A disk in the lower back blew out and made my life miserable. With surgery on Dec 6 and a couple of weeks of healing, and my kids in town, I had the best Christmas I can remember.
Oh yea, my wife bought me the new Dewalt 12V lithion drill and impact driver combo. I can’t wait to get well enough to try them out.
Happy New Year

I must have been a good boy last year as I got a LV curved bottom spokeshave and about 5 hours of uninterrupted shop time. I used my shop time to setup and resharpen all my hand tools. I then took two boards that all but had bark on them and s6s and join them together in what I will call a passable half-blind dovetail joint -- all by hand. I only turned my bandsaw on once to make a rough rip. Wonderful presents from the wife and kids.
