I am rebuilding a cherry dinging room table that was constructed from 6/4, quarter sawn cherry. It floated around in my house when Katrina put 7' of water on the downstairs floor. Several of the boards cracked or were disfigured beyond repair. I have searched in vain for quarter sawn lumber and in any case would not buy lumber to match the grain of what I have from the internet.
Having given up rebuilding what I have, I am going to start over. I am looking for a supplier of a 6/4 or even 8/4 cherry flitch cut log that has been kiln dried. I got badly stung buying a large walnut slab for a dinging room table from a mill in Idaho. That one has warped badly, and had a beetle infestation that has just now manifested itself. I fear that that one may end up as firewood. I don't want to repeat that experience, so am asking for references for a good mill to buy from.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
