5" high with finial, 2 1/2" diameter, wall thickness 1/8 + towards the bottom. Finished with salad bowl wiping poly. It may have picked up some gray from the cloth I left soaking in the poly. Comments please. New on the site. Less than two years using power lathe.

Allen,

Merry Christmas to you & yours, that is a nice little form. Your picture was a little out of focus, but it looks like it has nice grain. Welcome to the "creek" and we hope to see a lot more of your work! :)

Allan - Welcome to the Creek! Nice little end-grain hollow form! Really like all the curl! I do like the wood combination but find your finial just a bit on the thick side. Nice design to it - just a personal preference towards thinner, delicate finials.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Thanks for the look see, comments and the welcome. Finial turned with 1/4" spindle gouge. The are progressing to less chunky forms. Have a great day.

Allan, welcome to Sawmill Creek!! Nice to have you posting, and a good opening thread! Nice work on the form - good wood and nice finish. The height on the finial may be OK, but it is a little heavy. Would be interesting to see what a more delicate finial would do for the piece. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Welcome from NM..Like the form a lot, dont do finials (yet) so my comment there is totally worthless, but yours is thicker than status quo around here. Thanks for posting - keep em coming!

Welcome, Allan. My finial tastes are similar to the others, so I've nothing to add other than... Nicely done!
