I made this collection of apple bowls for my family this year. Our apple tree was cut down about 18 months ago and the wood suffered significantly from checks, rot and ants. All of these suffered (benefited?) from some design problems and opportunities. My guess is that the limited number of pictures won't allow you to find them. The green apple is easier to work with but these bowls still had significant movement as they dried. These were all turned to final size, dried a bit in a microwave and then finished with multiple coats of Minawax Antique Oil (MAO). I like the MAO because is hardens up nicely and provides a nice satin finish.

Here is the last (and my favorite) of the apple bowls and a photo of all of them together.

I'd appreciate any critique, comments, suggestions or questions that you might have.

I like all of your bowls, I'm glade you posted this, If my apple tree does not start producing better apples, it will be bowls. It is good to be able to turn a loss into something of beauty. Good job.

David, I really like all of them, they have great form, the second and third ones are my favorites. They are all very very nice though! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Exellent work on all of them, and if they had just a little less (thinner) foot on them, #2 and #4 would be my favorites. But, as they are, I agree with your choice!

I like all of them! Nice variety of forms and also a nice job on keeping them together! Have not had good luck with Apple - starts checking as soon as you look at it!
