They build them and race them locally.

They look like they have a jet outboard drive. In a past life I had re-machined hundreds of them for racing. What makes them turn so well is a small fin in the center of the boat about right under the engine. My old (1965) Correct Craft ski boat can turn like that but has a prop drive.
