I've been very busy getting some bowls done for the holiday season. My latest bowls have been experiments in adding embelishments. The following are all cherry (my favorite wood) Please add any C&C. It always helps to hear from such a great group of artists.174794174793174792174791

Matt, great group of turnings and some beautiful cherry!! The 3rd and 4th would be my picks, but that first one sure is unique, too. I like 'em all.

Those are all nice, but I am going with the green inlay bowl as my favorite.

I love all of them. How did you blacken the wood on the last one? Did you carve the leaves after that? Thanks for sharing.

Great work on the embellishments, especially the natural edge bowl with feet.

Another vote for the inlaid bowl. But the NE is an adventure into the unusual. It looks like it would be at home in an exhibit of ancient Egyptian objects.

Beautiful work Matt!! All are good, but the bowl is keeping my attention. I love stone inlay but struggle with where it's usable. You really brought that into focus on a great bowl. Thanks for posting!

Matt,

These are all very nicely done. I also like the photos and the way you added the text to each photo.

These are all beautiful! Impressive stuff for sure. I have to put in another vote for the green inlay bowl though. My favorite embelishment and favorite form...Awesome bowls.

All very nice-tough to pick a favorite, but the NE 'edges' the others out. Well done!

Nice stuff Matt. You have got some interesting stuff going on in that first one. It is an interesting piece for sure. The inlay bowl is a beauty, but that little forth piece with the leaves is my favorite. I like the shape and the colors together. Good job.

Greg, the band is bracketed by two burned lines done with a wire. The band was then painted with green acrylic paint and then I used a Ryobi carver to make the leaves.

Beautiful work Matt!! All are good, but the bowl is keeping my attention. I love stone inlay but struggle with where it's usable. You really brought that into focus on a great bowl. Thanks for posting!
Jim, I wish it were stone inlay, but in fact it's green glitter I picked up at Michael's. Just laid it in there and used thin CA. I can't take credit for the idea though. I stole the idea from one of the members of my turning club.
