Out of curiosity, and because I have never programed mine What 5 preset speeds have you chose, and what is the purpose of each speed?

Thanks, Ray

I have mine programmed for 300, 500, 1000, 1500, and 2500. I use 300 for sanding and initial roughing of out of balance pieces, 500 for initial roughing of pieces that are fairly well balanced, 1000 for finish turning of medium sized bowls, 1500 for small bowls and large spindles, and 2500 for small spindle work.

I have mine programmed for 250, 500, 850, 1600, 2500. For similar reasons as stated by Bob Hamilton.
I really thought I had died and gone to Turner's heaven last Jan when I got this lathe.
P.S. I just put a little clear plastic bumper (the kind you use on cupboard doors to stop the slam) on my OFF control button on the DVR and it is FANTASTIC. Now I can easily feel where the OFF button is and it is faster to find..... I also put a silver foil tape piece over the slot in the tail stock to keep dust out.

250, 500, 750, 1050 and 1750
250= sanding and wild roughing
500= increased roughing speed
750= bowl and hf work
1050= spindle roughing
1750= buffing and general spindle turning

250, 500, 1000, 1500, 2500 here. First two are for sanding or large, out-of-balance blanks, 1k and 1.5k for most work, 2.5k for small stuff or spindle work although I go higher for fine finials etc.

I like the idea of the plastic bumper on the off button Peter, easy to find without looking. Great idea.

300, 500, 750, 1050, and 1500. 300 for sanding and very out of balance work, 500 for rought turning, 750 for in balance work, 1050 and 1500 for finish turning. When it comes to spindle work I manually set it for 2500 -3000.

Thanks all, looks like everybody has about the same speeds for the same purposes. Other than being lazy, I don't know why I didn't program mine. It would certainly be handy though.

250, 500, 1000, 1500, 2500. Ray I am lazy and use these speeds for about 90% of the turnings.
