Any help or pictures wold be appreciated.

I got a good deal on the Freud box joint blade and now I need a good jig so I can put it to good use.

Is that blade like a rip blade?

I attached a link from a different forum in which this question was asked. I included lots of photos and notes. I hope this helps. If you are not sure of something, message me or call my cell phone 281-687-4661

I really like the fixture design from ShopNotes #62

My neighbour made a series of box joint jigs ( 1/2 inch, 5/8 and 3/4 inch) using the fingers from a aluminum dovetail jig. The problem with only having one indexing pin is that any error is compounded as you cut more fingers. Because the dovetail jig has 20-30 fingers that interlock there is NO error-period. As well the jig can hold up to 10 x 1/2 inch pieces. As a matter of fact I can cut all 4 pieces of 5 drawers at the same time. This makes it incredibly fast to make drawers as you can make multiple drawers at one time. And when making finger joints in plywood I always use a sacraficial backer board. You don't need one on the front because the blade is cutting into the plywood. I agree that a dado blade is taking a big cut but generally it is not too deep so I haven't noticed any tendency for the jig to want to "kickback".

Lowell,
The box joint blade is more like a dado blade without the chipers and with teeht designed to leave flat bottoms.
