My UPS driver just dropped of my new Makita 18V Compact Lithium Drill and Impact Driver set (LCT200W) I ordered. I was surprised to find both batteries already on the tools and charged. Now, It's been a while since I purchased a cordless tool, but as I recall, new tools don't come with charged batteries? Can anyone confirm this?

When I got my impact driver, it was charged.

All rechargeables that we have bought have been fully charged or close. I believe what you may be noticing is that is the norm for Li-Ion rechargeables.

All batteries were charge on the older ones you go but by the time you got them they had gone down. The new Lithium batteries hold a charge much longer on the shelf then the old ones so when you get the tool they still have a charge in them.

I bought the same Makita set on Black Friday. It came with both batteries in the tools and charged.
