I was asked to come up with some ideas for a local businesses indoor signage and they sent me a few examples of some stuff online that they thought looked neat. The one link they sent me has the company using a "brushed metal substitute acrylic" which i've never heard of before, but it looks to me like its just painted acrylic with a flexibrass type material on the front. Is there some other type of metalized acrylic out there?

Check these guys out, quite a selection.

Check their main site for samples.

I believe Rowmark has a new product, if I remember correctly it
is coated on the back side. I saw it NBM show earlier this year.

Tap Plastics used to have a brushed silver on the backside of clear acrylic that I have used, when the depth was desireable. Also, you can apply brushed silver or gold metalized poly/mylar film (similar to vinyl but laser safe) available at sign supplies to either the front or back. You have to be careful when purchasing, it's available in brushed or mirror, for front use, back use or both. I use it for laser cut letters all the time. With transfer tape on the face before cutting, you can spray the edges with metallic silver to 'match" but I find it looks better to use black acrylic so the edges are black for contrast and a shadow effect when viewed at an angle.
