I'd put 250 watt heat lights in some clip on lights that I had in the shop which seemed to be working fine. I was going to get a couple more. Stopped by lowes & picked up a couple more of the fixtures & when I got them home I read that they are "not for use w/ over 150 watt bulbs". The ones I had seemed fine, what might happen? I'm guessing they draw too much current?

The wire is not rated for that amperage, and the socket may not be rated for the heat produced by such a bulb. Very dangerous combination there, you're running at nearly 70% over capacity... remove it now before you start a fire.

ok this one says its rated to 300 watt incondescent bulbs, would it be ok for the 250 watt heat light?
