My squadron 'adopts' one of the local hospitals for veterans' patients each Christmas, and this year I grabbed 6 names off the donation tree - 2 each of USN, USMC and USA.

Here's their presents this year

For the Soldiers!
173717

For the Marines!
173718

And for the Sailors!
173719

Thanks to their service!!!

I have no idea what I'm actually engraving, but it sure is stinky!
5x7 is the size.
Colored with your craft gold leaf paint.

Comments & Critiques welcome too!

Mike, as I'm sure you know Challange Coins are tradition in military history.
Consider making some wooden ones that you can hand out when you visit.
Easy to make and cost effective!

Thanks for stepping to the plate to let these Veterans know someone does care!:)

Mike,

I like your idea and generous spirit. If you "grabbed 6 names" is there a reason you didn't put those names on the plaques? That would take your gifts from "really nice" to "wow!".

cheers, dee

Agree Dee, but still they are cool and nice (having served 20 years myself).

How did that leaf paint work out Mike? I'm always looking for the best products to use to enhance my products as well. Sometimes simple Krylon is good, then there are other paints such as the leaf and silver paints of high quality (and price) work best.

Names... d'oh!

yes, that would have been nicer.

Terry,

It was Walmart paint, gold leaf, in the craft section, about $2 if I recall correctly.

Very shimmery, great contrast.

Simply rubbed in with my finger, and barely-damp paper towel to wipe of the plaque.
