I took a bowl turning class at Highland Woodworking this past Sunday, and here's the result.

Reading and watching video is different than hands on. Kinda fun, looking forward to doing more!

This one is cherry, about 4.5 " x 2.5" or so. We sanded it down then ran it through the Beall Buffing system, with a final coat of Renaissance Wax ... I left a few tool marks to remind me it was my first :D

Leo that is a very nice first bowl. I would date it, sign it and keep it for comparison years from now.

Congrats on your first bowl - looks darn good to me! I agree with Bernie - make sure you sign it as there is only one 1st!

Lee, that is a great little bowl!! I still have my first, and it is NOT FOR SALE! ('course nobody would pay anything for it anyway, so it is a safe position!!:o;)) And, mine was cherry, too!

This is a milestone for you. There will be so many experiences and new techniques to enjoy. I still get excited about planning my next turning. Sometimes I think that is nearly as much fun as the turning.

Very nice first bowl. Definitely date and keep the first one. Previous work is a great reminder of our progress.

Very nice. Make sure you have a good wood supply, and a lathe big enough to turn bigger than you intend to turn, and the right tools, and lots of money, and, and, and...

That is a great first bowl, rim detail & all! We can all stop turning any time we want to, no addictions here!:D:D
Welcome to "All Things Spinny", Lee!

Really nice first bowl Lee. I wish my first one looked half that good. Keep up the good work.
