In need of a dowel rod and don't feel like running to the store but have some scrap sitting around, might wanna try with this guy does. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=dwDjedeJCZ0

Thought this pretty cool and could be useful for are turning projects.:)

Spade bit and banding clamp, Yep, had to get a closer look at that one, looks like one of my contraptions.:eek:

That was pretty cool. I saw something similiar on youtube recently where a guy had made a jig to fit on either side of the work piece in his lathe, then he ran his hand plane over the top of the jig and turned a dowel out of an irregular size piece of stock. People can come up with some pretty cool things around here.

Now that is slick! I'll have to remember that for the future when I want a Padauk dowel, or something equally rare at stores.
