Due to circumstances beyond my control (Otherwise known as a Sale:)), another JET landed in my new shop!

173605

So far it's fantastic! Every bit as good as my Inca (which is still for sale BTW;)).
Still have to get this thing off it's pallet and onto a mobile base. It is very heavy! Changeover is very quick and painless. Dust collection is very good to. The finished lumber is just what I hoped for, very smooth and flat without snipe. Overall, a very nice machine!

Thanks to all you fellow Creeker's that recommended it!
(Now just need to re-home my Inca)

I have the straight bladed version, got it before the hh was even mentioned. Two additions I'd recommend--my knob that loosens the infeed table lock was hard for me to work. I had a 4" cast iron wheel that I drilled and tapped to replace that knob, much improved. The second thing would be a digital readout. I find it nice with a combo machine to be able to go from planer to jointer and back to planer and reset the planer depth quickly and accurately. I found the Grizzly 12" worked well. I posted a pic here a few weeks ago but the new forum search function doesn't seem to be able to find it.

Thanks all!

That looks nice! I have heard the Wixley (sp) eats battery's, the Griz one looks sweet! Do you have a pic of your table lock?

This is the straight knife version, FWIW.

These things are HEAVY! Let me repeat for anyone considering one of these, they are HEAVY. Just moved it off it's shipping pallet onto a Shopfox heavy duty mobile base. With myself and and a large friend. I swear, it weighs as much as my new Uni. I'm going to be singing soprano for a while:)

In my, admitted limited use so far, this thing is fantastic! Thanks to all you fellow Creekers for pointing the way!

Hi Greg

Yup, they're heavy. I took the tables off mine, strapped it to an appliance cart and it was still all 3 of us wanted. That was going down stairs. I don't wanna think about going up:eek:. The table lock wheel is a wheel I had laying around-think it was from Grizzly. You can get 'em different places, McMaster-Carr etc. The threads are metric 8mm X?. It's the coarser pitch of two common choices so you'll need a metric tap. If you're an inveterate tinkerer like me, you might want to remake the fence tilt mechanism so it'll tilt 45 degrees each way. I didn't care for the fence only tilting away from the table. Now mine tilts both ways.
