That Reed Gray knows how to ship a Hunka-Hunka Lovin Wood. I believe it is Myrtle (correct me if I'm wrong Reed). I returned home today just as my neighbor brought me the big box. I opened it up to find this beautiful blank. Reed I'm waiting on the other one as well:):):)

That ought to be some good turning Chris. Can't wait to see what comes out of that blank.

Yup, that is the Myrtle, which is actually a California Bay Laurel, and not a Myrtle at all. Must be a marketing thing.

Chris,
That piece was not sealed, just wrapped in plastic. Better turn it now, or seal it. Same with the Madrone piece that should get there tomorrow.

That's a nice looking blank. I've never turned Bay Laurel, but I've seen some finished work made from it, and it's a very attractive wood. I'll anxiously await the finished piece.

Wow - that looks really nice! Is that some curl I see on the right side of the blank?
