So I'm not sure if I made a good decision here or not. But basically I picked up a Buffalo Brand lathe (WL-6) for $60. However the tailstock is not complete thus why I offered less than the $75 wanted. I'm pretty new to lathes and I don't understand what is missing and I cannot find anything about this on the lathe. I've removed the tailstock screw from the tailstock and re-attached the head that was on the tailstock. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Russell I can't help you with what you are showing, (bad pictures also), but I would go to the "Old WoodWorking Machines" site, they have a huge amount of info on old machinery, and a bunch of very knowledgeable members that might be able to help you out, at least it is a start :) maybe ;).

If you have the housing (not shown) and the screw with handle (shown), then you might be missing only the quill......... Jerry (in Tucson)

I'm pretty sure Jerry is right based on my research. I think the screw might have had the quill attached and it broke off unless anyone has seen a quill that would attach to what is shown. I was researching and found a guy that was building his own "DIY" lathe and his solution here was to machine a 1/2" thread on the end of the screw to attach a Jacobs Chuck. Is there any problems with this possible solution. OWWM does not have anything on this Buffalo Brand and they seem to have very little information the web. Bummer.
