I have always had an attraction to rocks. If I find them on the beach, or in one of the rip off shops in Az. I just can't help myself, I have to pick some up. For you old enough to remember, it is probably comparable Imelda Marcos, and her shoe fetish. Only mine is rocks:o.
Anyway this is a bowl I made to store some of them in. Walnut, 9 1/2" D. x 6" tall w/lid. So far finished with two coats of Tung oil.

I particularly like the rock in the knob. Those are some fancy colored rocks, what kinds are they?

Trevor, I wish I knew. I used to write them down as I got them, but have long ago lost that list. Some day I will get with a rock hound and find out again.

Better keep it away from the kids. Those look like jelly beans!

Neat bowl, Ray!! Really some nice figure in the lid. Do you tumble your rocks, or are those the way you found them?

Nice bowl Ray. I understand the rock thing, I'm sorta that way with marbles. It's from when I was a kid and played marbles all the time. I don't buy them but every time I empty a can of spray paint I cut it open and get the marble. I have an old coke bottle in the garage I put them in. They are all "clearies".

Nice bowl and nice rocks.I pick up rocks all the time myself. Those had to come out of a tumbler somewhere.

Thanks all. No John these were all bought like this. I don't have a rock tumbler.
Keep snickering James. Someday you will be there, and some, and the shoe will be on the other foot. Some young punk will be snickering at you:D

Seems to me it should have been made from "rock" maple:D

Nice looking bowl. The rocks add some color. I have considered doing something similar sometime with stones from a beach and using just one for the knob(It would be the knob). Thanks for keeping it no too far back in my mind!:)
