and have looked at the Starrett SM66ME Adhesive 3/4" x 6' tape. The only problem with it is that the adhesive doesn't extend all the way to the edge of the tape making it easy for it to be snagged or saw dust to accumulate under it.

Does anyone know of a better alternative?

Hmm, I've had one on my cabinet saw for several years without any issues. I vaguely remember that it is metallic and sticks down very firmly. It is much better than the bizarre, stretchy plastic tape which came OEM on my saw.

Lee Valley has a nice assortment

Would probably need to pick up a few more items to make the shipping worthwhile, not that that is a bad thing ;)

I installed this one from Rockler on my Bies fence, adhesive goes all the way to the ends. I only heat my workshop when I'm it on the weekends, so it has seen some pretty wide temp swings and I've not seen any problems. I've not tried the others so I can't offer any comparison.

The original Biesemeyer instructions recommended using 3-M spray contact adhesive on the area of the rail where the fence will attach. Clean the area with min.spirits and mask off an area just slightly smaller than the tape will cover to avoid cleanup later. Starrett's steel tape is exactly what Biesemeyer provided.

Thanks a lot. I went their with the intention of buying a $9.50 tape and ended up spending almost $200. :o

Yea, it just doesn't seem right unless the box is full. ;)

Just wait 'till the catalog comes with the shipment. Hope you didn't sign up for their emails either. :D
