I joke that I do segmented work because I like to tell the wood what to do, instead of the other way around. :) Well, the wood got the last say so on this one. A giant crack appeared on the outside board, which prevented turning the 9" tall vase that I was about to turn. So...........

The vase is 5" tall x 3.5" wide. The bowl is 2.5" tall x 5" wide. They both have 1/8" thick walls and are finished with Antique Oil and then buffed with all 3 wheels.

Critiques are welcome. And yes, I know I missed the curve on the bowl, causing a flat spot. Thanks for looking!

Robert,

Very nice stuff. Nice save, guess I am partial to them these days. The vase is my favorite, like the randomness of the pattern. Only nit, could use just a bit of a curve from shoulder to base. Good work.

Stunning affects...I think I'll hold off on trying that on my own without adult supervision!:p

Robert, you have at least 75% of that 9" vase!! I have to tell you, when I opened this thread, the first pic I saw was the "stack!!"

I like both of them, and yes, I do see the flat spot, but it is on the underside and doesn't really take away from the bowl.

Never a great fan if segmented pieces but I really like the simple geometry of these.

Nice save. I like the combo of woods.

I'm sure if you hadn't pointed out the flat spot most people would have never seen it!

Some very nice work Robert. I really like that vase especially. The bowl works too, flat spot and all.
