Here is a nest of tables I made from burl English brown oak.

The two smaller tables are one piece tops and the larger one is two pieces glued together. They were deliberately left "rustic" with the holes etc. as my wife preferred them this way. The finish is a homemade three part mix applied with a rag in about five or six layers.

The legs were turned on the lathe, which is my least favorite and used tool, everyone keeps telling me just keep practicing. It took me five times longer to turn the legs and get them reasonably close, than to build the rest of the tables.

The bow fronted shelving unit is made from some rustic grade walnut I bought to practice on. The top is dovetailed into the sides and the shelves are supported with through tenons, which I did on the leigh mortising attachement for a DR4 dovetail jig, after failing miserably trying to do them by hand!

Seamus you really have an eye for great lumber! and your design style really takes advantage of the materials. Very nice work.
