It is Burmese Rosewood about 10" tall. I stare at it constantly. :D

Good looking mill. The wood reminds me of Cocobolo. I wonder if it's in the same family.

I made one for our church auction about 2 years ago and have been meaning to make one for myself. Maybe this will be my inspiration!

I like the mill, and don't blame you for wanting to keep it. I also thought it was cocobolo at first...similar looks.

Where did you get the hardware from, that appears to be a brushed nickel kind of finish, and I like it over the typical chrome hardware kits (like I have waiting on me to turn one for the first time!)

Thanks. That's a really deep finish, is it WOP? Good finish for kitchen, I hear. Assuming the inside is unfinished, correct?

What's the finish? It's beautiful and looks like it would hold up to a lot of use. Thanks. Alan

Now for some good pepper corns. I have traded and purchased a number of his peppers. Excellent. I never knew there were so many different flavors.

Why does the knob remind me of the Eye of Sauron. With one Twist, grinds them all.

Andrew LOL Eye of Sauron that is the exact thing I though when I finished it.

The finish is 8 coats of Lacquer believe it or not. The inside is finished with mineral oil.

I believe it is in the same family as Cocobolo. It was very dense. They are both from the Rosewood family.

Tim I got the hardware from woodcraft it is there stainless mill kit.

Really some nice spool work on this one. It does look like cocobolo, but then I find that most all the rosewoods look alike to me - not that knowledgeable on the exotics!

Very nicely done. I just ordered a couple of those mechanical antique looking units, but I won't be putting anything that stunning under it!
Nice job. It would look great on MY dinner table if you ever get tired of it.
Thanks for posting.

It's one of the dalbergia's for sure. I've noted that a lot of the exotics I love the best are.

Beautiful Mill, great looking rosewood! I would stare at it for hours too!

Brazilian rosewood, is related to cocobolo, all the rosewoods are members of the Sumac family, which is why lots of folks have allergic reactions to the dust! A beautiful family of woods!
