Hello,

I just bought the Bosch 1590EVSK jigsaw, but I haven't used it yet. I looked at the new Bosch JS470E jigsaw, but I bought the 1590 because I thought that it might be on the way to be discontinued, and I didn't want to miss out on it. I may have been wrong about the 1590 being discontinued, but I still want to make sure that I bought the right saw.

I'm wondering whether any of you have used the new JS470E and if so, what do you think of it? If it's a better jigsaw than the 1590, I might return the 1590 and get the JS470E, so I'm not going to open it and use it until I have a chance to hear from anyone who might have used both of them and who might be able to give me a good comparison review.

Thanks,
Louis

Again based on what I told at IWF by the Bosch rep was the 1590/1 was still the top jigsaw, the 470 series was "below" it. The MSRP would suggest this is correct BUT I don't know from personal experience, having only held the 470.

The 470-series one doesn't have the side guards for the blade, so probably won't do as well with curves.

I rather suspect it was built to a price point. They make a big deal about the 7A motor, but that means nothing unless we know how efficient it is. It could just be a really crappy motor that draws a lot of current.

It has the percision control or whatever they call it however it is internal. Whether it works as well I have no idea.
