Does anyone have the Ryobi AP1300 Planer. I've read some good reviews on it from people who actually own it and use it moderately (like I would). My question is its durability. Will it hold up? I'm also eyeing the Ridgid planer, but a $100 more it might be more planer than I need. And I'm not sure it comes with all the features the Ryobi does. Also, the knives cost $30 at my big orange box. Ouch!

Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can give me.

Ted, I have had the AP1300 for about two years and before buying it I wondered the same things you did. However, I had owned the 10 inch Ryobi planer as a second hand tool and never had a moments problem with it. I have not had any problems with the 1300 either. I get a small amount of snipe, but that can be overcome by lifting your board slightly and leaving the anti-snipe switch off. I am a moderate user, but have run lots of oak thru the 1300 (Did my whole kitchen using the 1300.), and would say it has been well tested. Hope this helps you.
